How did you spend your summer?

Here is how I spent a portion of mine.

Yum!

Here’s a few notes since I have clearly “fallen off the wagon” when it comes to posting my beer reviews:

Andersen Valley’s Brother Dave’s Double - A very nice double brown ale with tones of raisin and caramel. Very smooth drinking for a 9% alc ale. Went really, really good with a spicy meal.

Twilight Seasonal Ale - Lighter but very similar to Fat Tire. Drinkable but not exceptional…golden in color. Taste lacks any complexity. Might be something good if you are branching out from traditional (i.e. nasty) American Lagers.

Immort Ale - True to form Dogfish Head continues to delight with every beverage they pour. This one has a smoky finish while being very smooth across the palate. Slight stickiness reminiscent of honey. Definitely finishes dry and leaves you wanting another taste.

Obsidian and Andersen Valley’s Oatmeal Stout both proved to be very enjoyable and well worth a try.

Grand Cru should only be consumed in small doses. Very small doses.

Stay away from the Maudite. I haven’t poured out a glass of beer in a very long time (if you don’t count the porter we tried to brew). This one ended its life in the sink.
